About

Emily & Devin are Museum Mountmakers based out of Tampa, FL. We both started out at the Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota, Florida where we trained under a talented fabricator and friend, Matt Lynn, who has since moved on to work at the Smithsonian's Office of Exhibits Central. Emily also holds a certification in the Design and Construction of Museum Mounts through the Northern States Conservation Center. After 5 years at the Ringling, Emily and Devin were offered opportunities to work for museums in San Francisco. Emily took a job as the Senior Mountmaker for the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco--a corporation which owns and operates the De Young Museum and the Legion of Honor. And Devin jumped at the opportunity to revamp SFMOMA's fabrication shop and build out the exhibits for their long-awaited re-opening in 2016. After two years in San Francisco, we made the carefully weighed decision to move back to Florida and continue our careers as contract mountmakers.

We are both comfortable working with steel, brass, acrylic, wood, and textiles among other media, and have full mountmaking kits that can travel with us as needed. We enjoy collaborating with Exhibit Fabricators, Conservators, Designers, Curators and Collections staff to create engaging displays which preserve the physical integrity of the objects and mitigate the effects of potential hazards.

FAQ

Will we travel for work? Happy to! We have a mobile shop that we can bring with us to set up on site.

Do we only work as a team? We work well together, but due to our full schedules it's generally easier for one of us to travel at a time. Don't worry, we're practically interchangeable!

What's with the names? Devin Myers & Emily Meyer. We won't care if you mix it up; sometimes we do too.
